MANILA, Philippines—Former Arellano combo guard Kent Salado believes the Chiefs have the potential to reach the Final Four in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament.
Salado was in attendance for the Chiefs-Altas game where Arellano took home its second win, 61-59.
“For me, maybe they can actually make the Final Four. I’ll pray for it,” he said at the game’s half.
Along with Salado, fellow NCAA alum and Ginebra swingman Scottie Thompson also watched to support his alma mater, Perpetual Help.
In his last year with the Chiefs, Salado posted 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Like his signature element, the 5-foot-8 guard believes defense will be key for Arellano, which currently holds a 2-1 record, to reach the playoffs.
“I saw Arellano’s lineup and I saw that they all go hard on defense,” Salado declared.
“What I like so much about the Chiefs this season is really their defense,” he added.
Head coach Cholo Martin and the Arellano Chiefs will face off against defending champions, Letran Knights, on Sunday, 12 p.m.
