College of St. Benilde frustrated San Sebastian, 100-94, tallying its second win of the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil EcoOil Arena on Sunday.

Migs Oczon scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the third period, using free throws coming mostly from technical fouls to fuel his scoring spree that helped St. Benilde turn a 57-46 lead into a 66-48 spread.

“It [technical fouls] helped Migs Oczon get going because he made free throws. All seven of his free throws were from the third. If you’re a shooter and you see the ball going in the net multiple times, it gets you going,” Benilde assistant coach Paolo Layug said.

The Stags fought back in the fourth and came to within five in the last minute of the game, 99-94, but Will Gozum split two free throws to make it 100-94 and knock the wind out of San Sebastian’s sails.

Gozum finished with 23 markers for the Blazers (2-0). Migs Corteza and JC Collar added 18 and 11 points, respectively.

San Sebastian, which slid to a 1-1 record, was led by Romel Calahat’s with 21 points and eight rebounds.
