MANILA, Philippines—Former San Beda standout Robert Bolick is extremely confident the Red Lions will reach the NCAA Finals this season.

San Beda’s streak of finals appearances was snapped after getting the boot in the semifinals last season.

“This team can reach the finals. These kids, as soon as they enter the gym, even if they are rebuilding, championship is what fans, alumni and school see already,” said Bolick, who was in attendance during San Beda’s clash with Lyceum on Saturday at San Juan Arena.

“For sure, we will reach the finals again. I can really feel it,” added Bolick, who now stars for the NorthPort Batang Pier in the PBA.

Bolick played an instrumental role in San Beda’s last championship run back in 2019.

The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 18.7 points per game in his last season for the Red Lions.

Bolick also commended new San Beda coach Yuri Escueta, who steered San Beda to a 1-1 start so far this season.

“I have huge trust in coach Yuri, he really deserves the position, that’s also why I’m here, to support him,” he said.

The former Gilas cadet also lauded two of the team’s veterans in James Kwekuteye and JB Bahio. Bolick believes both players have what it takes to bring the team back to finals.

“James and JB, they are the seniors and they also have championships. They know what it takes to get a title.”
