Article continues after this advertisementSt. Benilde came back from nine points down late but just couldn’t sustain its momentum and Tiu isn’t upbeat about celebrating a near victory.
“I don’t believe in moral victories. They don’t count in the standings. At least, we were able to compete with them,” Tiu said.
The Blazers pulled within two down the stretch but ran out of fas as they missed the crucial baskets in the endgame.
Article continues after this advertisement“We missed two wide-open layups down the stretch that could have tied the game but that’s how it is,” he said.
With the loss, CSB slipped into a tie with Lyceum for first place at 3-1.
“They outworked us, they played well and we turned the ball too much,” Tiu admitted.
The Blazers turned the ball over 24 times, giving the Knights 20 points off turnovers.
They were also held to just 6-of-23 from downtown.
The Blazers look to regain their winning ways against Jose Rizal University on Sunday.
