MANILA, Philippines—Meralco drew a vintage performance from Asi Taulava to defeat Alaska, 100-95, Sunday in the 2012 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Taulava had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds but what’s more impressive is he didn’t miss a shot in seven tries.
The Aces squandered a double-digit lead and clawed back to a 10-point lead late but the Bolts were able to weather their comeback.
Reynel Hugnatan sank two free throws to make it a two-possession game after Alaska import Jason Forte pulled the Aces to within three, 95-98, with 49.4 ticks left.
The Bolts carved up their second win in five games while the Aces dropped to 1-4.
