MANILA, Philippines—Ray Parks running the point for Nagoya could be a familiar sight in the upcoming B.League season.
Parks being an effective playmaker would certainly cause problems for opposing teams with his length and size as the Diamond Dolphins look to build on their campaign the previous season.
“This season we’re trying to switch things up. We have a flexible offense. We want to put different people in different situations. I’ll be more on the ball this year and I’m excited to take that role. Whatever the team needs me to do, I’ll definitely do it,” Parks said during the B.League 2022-23 Tip-off press conference on Tuesday.
Last season, Parks played a significant role in Nagoya’s playoff stint, averaging 10.4 points. 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals.
Parks was the only Filipino import to make the playoffs last season and he is keen on a return trip especially with the Diamond Dolphins running it back with their core players.
“Keeping most of our key players together was huge. Moving forward to this season, all we can do is learn from last season and continue to grow,” the 6-foot-4 Parks said.
“We fell short of the goal that we wanted to do but for a team that was just put together for the first year, we did a lot and we wanna continue growing and learn to play with one another.”
