Beverly Place bags trophy via tiebreak

/ 04:05 AM October 10, 2022

Beverly Place Golf Club of Pampanga won three of the four titles disputed in the Luzon leg it cohosted over the weekend then prevailed in the tiebreak to capture the coveted Club of the Year trophy in the Sta. Lucia Golf Tour 2022.

Victories by the tandems of Jericho Maceda/Michael Mangio (overall), Eduardo Sobrepeña/Reymond Manalansan (Class B) and Angelito Pineda/Johnny Sambo (Class C) highlighted the rousing comeback of Beverly Place after failing to get a single point in the Mindanao leg last month. The Pampanga club chalked up 14 points to tie Rancho Palos Verdes of Davao for the top award of the 72-hole event played in the four different courses.

Team Beverly Place won by virtue of having more points from the Luzon leg that also included Friday’s first 18 hole at Pinewoods Golf Club in Baguio, getting six from the overall win and four each for topping Class B and Class C.

The Eagle Ridge pair of Gary Sales and Lauren Enrique prevented a Beverly sweep by taking Class A honors, posting 135 for a two-stroke win over Summit Point’s husband-and-wife tandem of Roger and Ahily Kidwell.

Abraham Lacaya and Brian Good salvaged 2 points for Rancho Palos Verdes by finishing second a mere stroke behind the 137 of Sobrepeña and Manalansan in Class B while Regent Asterio Lagura and Josef Maganduga put Royale Tagaytay in the points column with a runnerup finish in Class C where Pineda and Sambo finished eight strokes ahead with their 130.
