Youth standouts pace qualifying rounds of 24th Sletba Open
MANILA — Rising young stars of Philippine tenpin bowling are currently pacing the qualifying rounds of the 24th Sta. Lucia East Tenpin Bowling Association (Sletba) Open Championships which began last Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall Bowling Center in Cainta, Rizal.
Danielle Evangelista of TBAM leads the way in the Mixed Open Masters division with a six-game series of 1455, followed by Luis Barredo of Sletba-PTBC with 1443, and Art Barrientos of Sletba with 1439.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the Mixed Classified Masters category, Sletba’s JC Mendoza is on top with 1439 for a six-game series. Tan-Tan Rivera of MTBA-MKAI is second with 1364, while Sletba-GMTBC’s Selwyn Cabaluna is third with 1326.
Mar Serac of Sletba leads the Mixed Seniors Open Masters class with 1468, followed closely by PSB’s John Mendoza with 1452, and PBA’s John Tiongson with 1364.
Meanwhile, Obet Bayot of PSB paces the Mixed Senior Classified group with 1319, followed by Ray Santos of USBC with 1308, and Sletba’s Selwyn Cabaluna with 1302.
Article continues after this advertisementLouise Santarin of MTBA-MKAI is ahead in the Ladies Masters division with 1391, followed by Annie Estrada of Sletba with 1369, and May Tumbagahon of PSB with 1348.
The Youth Masters class promises to be a tough fight where some of the country’s young hopefuls are competing. Danielle Evangelista of TBAM is ahead with 1455, followed by Luis Barredo of Sletba-PTBC with 1443, and Marc Custodio of Sletba with 1418.
Kyle Tiongson of PBA is ahead in the Mixed Juniors Masters group with 1263, followed by Sletba’s Wilbert Dolosa with 1206, and PTBA’s Angelo Aquino with 1168
The Sletba Open qualifying rounds are being held everyday until Thursday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. The finals for the various divisions will start Friday till Sunday.
