MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian snapped its four-game losing streak at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 78-61, in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament at San Juan Arena on Friday.

The Golden Stags held the Generals without any wins in their first round after nine games while they improved to a 3-5 record.

“We had a four-game losing streak so we really needed this win so we can have momentum in the second round. We focused on our defense and our shots fortunately went in,” Stags big man Jessie Sumoda said.

After a tight first half where the Generals led, 31-30, the Golden Stags picked up the pace to take over the game before payoff period, 52-43.

EAC tried to mount a comeback in the last two minutes as they only trailed, 66-56, but James Una shut the door with a dagger triple with 1:47 left, 69-56.

San Sebastian went on to sink three more triples before time expired.
