MANILA, Philippines—National University showed no signs of slowing down as it pushed its winning streak past the century mark after trouncing Adamson, 100-66, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s basketball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs cruised to their 101st consecutive win and improved to 5-0 this season. They opened the game with a 31-13 blitz and sustained their form until the final buzzer.

Tin Cayabyab led the charge with 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals, much to the delight of coach Aris Dimaunahan.

“I’ve been missing her for four games already. It’s a good thing she had a good start and her teammates were looking for her to build up her confidence,” the mentor said.

Ann Pingol added 19 points and nine rebounds for NU while Angel Surada notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Dindy Medina scored a game-high 28 points in a losing effort for the Lady Falcons, who dropped to a 2-3 record. Victoria Adeshina also registered a double-double for Adamson with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Earlier that day, La Salle escaped a pesky Far Eastern University side, 65-58, to improve to a 4-1 card.

The Lady Archers held a two-point lead, 56-54, in the last five minutes of the game before going on an 8-1 spurt, including a dagger triple by Lee Sario triple.

“We needed this kind of win because in our last game, we won by a blowout. This is a character win for us,” La Salle coach Cholo Villanueva said.

Fina Niantcho had a monster game with 16 points and 19 rebounds for the Lady Archers. Charmaine Torres scored 16 as well to go with eight boards.

The Lady Tamaraws, who fell to a 1-4 slate, were led by Danica Pacia’s 16 points and nine rebounds.

NU and La Salle face each other on Wednesday at University of Santo Tomas’ Quadricentennial Pavilion.
