B.League: Dwight Ramos helps Levanga sweep Toyama; Matthew Wright, Kyoto end skid

MANILA, Philippines—Dwight Ramos helped the Levanga Hokkaido in completing a weekend sweep of the Toyama Grouses, 88-85, on Sunday in the 2022-23 Japan B.League season at Hokkai Kitayell.

Ramos only scored six points on 3-of-8 shooting but he delivered seven assists, four steals, and two rebounds against his former team as Hokkaido earned its second straight win to improve its record to 2-4.

Brock Motum led the charge for Levanga with 25 points, seven boards, five assists, and three steals.

Former PBA stars Matthew Wright and Jay Washington were also triumphant.

Wright delivered eight points, four assists, and two rebounds as Kyoto Hannaryz beat SeaHorses Mikawa, 76-63, to end a three-game skid and improve to a 2-4 card at Sky Hall Toyota.

Washington, on the other hand, scattered six points, two assists, and one rebound in garbage time as Ryukyu Golden Kings dominated Niigata Albirex BB anew, 99-65, for their third straight win and rise to a 5-1 record at Okinawa Arena.

Meanwhile, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena suffered losses in their respective matches.

Parks had seven points and three rebounds as Nagoya Diamond Dolphins (4-2) fell to Yokohama B-Corsairs, 88-78, at Yokohama International Pool.

Kiefer Ravena tallied 13 points and five assists as the Shiga Lakes (2-4) lost back-to-back games to Justine Baltazar’s Hiroshima Dragonflies, 83-81, at Ukaruchan Arena.

Baltazar was scoreless in one minute and 11 seconds but Hiroshima improved to 4-2.

Thirdy Ravena flirted with a triple-double but San-En NeoPhoenix yielded to Ibaraki Robots, 96-94, at Hitachi City Ikenokawa Sakura Arena.

The younger Ravena had 13 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists off the bench as San-En’s three-game win streak got snapped, sliding to 3-3.

In Japan B2, Jordan Heading failed to sustain his hot shooting as he only had 10 points on 2-of-7 shooting from deep but Nagasaki Velca still dominated Aomori Wat’s, 97-80 at Goto Civic Gymnasium.

Heading had five assists, a rebound, and an assist to help Nagasaki improve to 5-1 with its fourth straight win.

Roosevelt Adams had six points, five rebounds, and two steals as Kagawa Five Arrows (1-5) suffered their fifth straight loss at the hands of Kumamoto Volters, 93-67, at Takamatsu City Gymnasium.
