MANILA. Philippines—ONE Championship’s fourth-ranked bantamweight contender Stephen Loman is set to take on former world champion Bibiano Fernandes in Fight Night 4: Abbasov vs. Lee on November 19 at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Loman, a member of Team Lakay, has long been eyeing a fight against the top-seeded Fernandes as he tries to advance his bid for a world title in the promotion.
Since joining ONE Championship, Loman has made a strong statement by knocking Yusup Saadulaev in his debut before outlasting Shoko Sato in his next outing.
“I’m so happy for this opportunity. Now the people will get to see the results of all the hard work and training that I’ve done. I’m truly excited for this bout,” Loman said.
“Bibiano’s one of the top contenders still in the division so a win here and I could be next in line for the title,” he added.
Fernandes, meanwhile, is coming off a knockout defeat in the hands of John Lineker, something Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao acknowledged.
“He could be really motivated coming from that loss against Lineker. It’s either he’s frustrated or motivated. We’ll see,” Sangiao said of his fighter’s next oppponent.
The ONE flyweight muay thai world title will also be on the line as champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon defends his strap against strawweight champ Joseph Lasiri.
The main event will see Kiamrian Abbasov defend his ONE welterweight title against ONE lightweight champion Christian Lee.
