New-found chemistry keys Angels’ ripping of Chargers

Lindsey Vander Weide stepped up and saw changes in the Petro Gazz game that make the Angels dangerous from here on in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

After firing 18 points in a surprisingly easy 25-13, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Akari, Vander Weide was quick to point out that the key to the win was that the Angels “really played together” in bouncing back at Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

“Coming off a loss, we knew we have to push in every set. It was a good win. Obviously, it’s always great to win in three sets but the most important thing is that we really played together today,” the American spiker said after the win carved out in just 76 minutes for a 2-1 record.

Import Yeliz Basa got all the help she needed from Creamline’s talented locals as the Cool Smashers scored a 25-28, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12 triumph over Cignal for a 3-0 card.

Jema Galanza had 17 points and Alyssa Valdez added eight to form a three-cornered battering ram with Basa as Creamline dealt Cignal a second loss in three games.

“We improved on some things that we wanted to from the last game. I think that felt really good,” Vander Weide said.

MJ Phillips helped Vander Weide with 11 points.
