Majority of INQUIRER.net pollsters disagree with judges’ decision on Bradley

MANILA, Philippines – Following the controversial victory of American boxer Timothy Bradley against Filipino ring icon Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao for the welterweight crown in Las Vegas over the weekend, most of the respondents of the recently concluded INQUIRER.net poll said they weren’t in favour of the judges’ decision.

To the question “Do you agree with the judges’ decision to hand Bradley the win vs Pacquiao?” 12,675, or 86.86 percent of the total 14, 570 respondents said “no” while only 1,918, or 13.14 percent said “yes” to the informal survey.

Bradley shocked the world after winning the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt in a split decision against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao himself, trainer Freddie Roach, promoter Bob Arum and boxing analysts were stunned by the judges’ decision, two of who favoured Bradley, despite the more damaging blows inflicted by Paqcuiao on his opponent.

A rematch is in the offing in November.
