Gomez wins silver place in int’l sporting clay championships

Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez has won the silver medal in the 4th FITASC (Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) Asian Sporting Championships (senior category) held in Photaram, Thailand, on November 16 and 17.

The lawmaker likewise landed 4th place in the Asian Senior Sporting Championship for Sporting Clay.

“Thank you Lord for the victory! I won 2nd place for the Asian Senior Champion for Compak Championship and
4th place for Asian Senior Sporting Champion for Sporting Clay. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” Gomez said in his social media page.

“I am very thankful to my friends, family, Juliana and to my wife Lucy for being very supportive to the things I enjoy doing like shotgun sports,” Gomez also said.

Sporting clay is a new fast-growing sport in the Philippines that involves the shooting of flying clay targets with a shotgun. Gomez, who is a known sharpshooter, is the organizer of the Sporting Clays Association of the Philippines.

Gomez took the second spot in the Senior Category after he beat his French opponent, Philippe Delbos, by one point in a sudden-death round. A total of 97 competitors from 22 countries participated in the shooting competition.
