KBL: Red-hot RJ Abarrientos fuels Ulsan rout of Jeonju

MANILA, Philippines—Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus relied on RJ Abarrientos to trample the Jeonju KCC Egis, 85-68, in the Korean Basketball League at Dongcheon Gymnasium on Saturday.

The former Far Eastern University standout caught fire with five 3-pointers en route to a 22-point outing that went with seven rebounds and five assists with one steal and a block to boot.

Lee Woo-seok and Jang Jae-suk added 20 and 11 points, respectively for Ulsan.

Ricardo Ratcliffe’s double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds was not enough to power Jeonju to victory.

Wonju DB Promy, on the other hand, fell to the Seoul SK Knights, 85-81, at Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium.

Ethan Alvano had a stellar game in the defeat with 20 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Over at Suwon KT Arena, the Changwon LG Sakers prevailed over the Suwon KT Sonicboom, 83-71.

Justin Gutang played 16 minutes but only finished with two points, five rebounds and four assists in the victory.

SJ Belangel and the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus were also victorious on Friday.

Belangel came off the bench and collected 14 points, highlighted by a pair of triples, six rebounds, four assists and one steal to help Daegu whip the Seoul Samsung Thunders, 106-85, at Daegu Gymnasium.

Another Filipino import in Rhenz Abando was also on the winning end on Friday after league-leading Anyang KGC trounced Goyang Carrot Jumpers, 86-72.

Abando wasn’t able to get going with only five points and three rebounds but Anyang still hiked its record to 12-3 thanks to the efforts of Omari Spellman, who had 21 points and 15 rebounds.
