B.League: Thirdy Ravena outduels Ray Parks as San-En dominates Nagoya

MANILA, Philippines — Thirdy Ravena poured in 20 points as the San-En NeoPhoenix took down Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, 94-80, in the 2022-23 Japan B.League season on Wednesday at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

Ravena shot 3-of-5 from the three-point line and tallied three rebounds and three assists to lead San-En to back-to-back victories and improve to a 12-12 record.

The former Ateneo stalwart outdueled Parks, who had 11 points, four steals, and two rebounds.

The NeoPhoenix also banked on Kazuki Hosokawa, who fired seven triples to finish with 25 points and six rebounds. Kyle O’Quinn had 15 points, seven boards, and four assists, while Isaiah Hicks chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds, and four dimes.

Nagoya’s two-game win streak was ended as it dropped to a 17-7 card with Coty Clarke flirting with a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Takumi Saito had 18 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Matthew Wright got the better of Kiefer Ravena as Kyoto Hannaryz trounced the Shiga Lakes, 89-72, at Shiga Daihatsu Arena.

Wright sank four three-pointers to finish with 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals, lifting Kyoto to its second straight win for an improved 9-15 record.

Jarrod Uthoff propelled the Hannaryz with 25 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Ravena had  11 points, two rebounds, and two assists as a starter only for Shiga to absorb its seventh straight defeat and fall to a 4-20 card.

Dwight Ramos missed his 13th straight game due to a sprained ankle but the Levanga Hokkaido beat the Sendai 89ers, 69-63,  go end a two-game skid and improve to a 7-17 slate at Xebio Arena Sendai.

In the second division, Kobe Paras scored three points in nine minutes of play as the Altiri Chiba (21-5) earned their 10th straight victory with a 94-88 conquest over Koshigaya Alphas at Bardral Urayasu Arena.

Jordan Heading had nine points and four rebounds coming off the bench to help Nagasaki Velca (18-8) in beating  Bambitious Nara, 107-94, for their third consecutive victory at ROHTO Arena Nara.

Roosevelt Adams unloaded 17 points and six rebounds but it wasn’t enough to end the woes of the Kagawa Five Arrows (8-18) as they suffered their fifth straight loss at the hands of Nishinomiya Storks, 92-78, at Nishinomiya Central Gymnasium.

Greg Slaughter sat out anew for the Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka (10-16) in their 80-66 defeat to Kumamoto Volters at Fukuoka Citizen Gymnasium.
