MANILA, Philippines—TNT swingman RR Pogoy drew huge praise from coach Jojo Lastimosa after the team’s 93-85 win over Magnolia in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday.

Lastimosa lauded Pogoy, whom he thinks is “the best two-way player in the league.”

“Right now, Roger is probably the best two-way player in the league. He keeps saying he’s all about ‘defense, defense,’ but his offense is humming right now,” Lastimosa said.

“Roger, he is too humble. We’ve come a long way with him since his days in FEU and he knows he’s here now due to hard work,” he added.

After finishing with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, Pogoy refused to take all the credit as he tipped his hat to his teammates.

“I give credit to my teammates because they’re all good. All the defense is focused on them that’s why I’m wide open,” Pogoy said.

“Of course, credit goes to my hard work as well. This doesn’t happen overnight, I also have to really work hard for it,” he added.

Pogoy is averaging 21.3 points on 57 percent shooting from the field, 3.3 rebounds and close to a steal and a block per game.

His play has resulted in TNT getting off to a 3-1 start in the season-ending conference.

Pogoy hopes to sustain his form when TNT clashes with Converge on Wednesday at Araneta Coliseum.
