PVL: Mylene Paat propels Chery Tiggo past F2 Logistics to stay unbeaten
MANILA, Philippines — Mylene Paat continued to unleash her scoring prowess to help keep Chery Tiggo unbeaten in three games, handing F2 Logistics its first 25-19, 25-14, 25-16, in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at Philsports Arena.
Paat poured in a game-high 22 points off 20 attacks, one block, and an ace to lead another balanced attack from the Crossovers, who banked on the brilliant playmaking of setter Alina Bicar.
Bicar dished out 20 excellent sets and a block as Chery Tiggo dominated F2 Logistics in attacking with a 54-22 differential to earn their third straight win, joining idle Creamline (3-0) on top of the standings.
Shaya Adorador chipped in 13 points for the Crossovers. EJ Laure had 12 points and 15 digs. Cza Carandang added 10 markers, as libero Buding Duremdes protected the floor with 25 digs and 13 excellent receptions.
“We know for a fact that F2 is not an easy team. They also had a two-game winning streak. It was overwhelming but we’re grateful. All the members of our team have a great collaboration,” Chery Tiggo coach Aaron Velez in Filipino.
“I’m so proud of the ladies, how they were really working hard. They played their hearts out and they offered themselves to each other.”
The Crossovers pulled away in the second set with a 20-8 margin after scoring 12 of the last 14 points capped by Paat’s kill to easily take a two-set advantage.
The Cargo Movers scored the first two points of the third but the Crossovers were able to regain their momentum, 10-9, before pulling away with a 21-13 spread off Laure’s attack and ace and never looking back to earn their third win.
Myla Pablo scored nine points, all from attacks but she had 44 attempts. Majoy Baron played her first game this conference with six points, including four blocks, while Aby Marano also scored six.
Kianna Dy, the team’s top scorer, was limited to just one point and was benched in the third set as F2 Logistics slid to a 2-1 record.
