MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine women’s football team was handed a 5-0 defeat by Iceland as its Pinatar Cup campaign drew to a close on Tuesday (Wednesday Manila time) in Murcia, Spain.

After trailing by a single goal at halftime, the Filipinas watched as Iceland fired four in the final 45 minutes to go winless in the four-nation tournament at Pinatar Arena.

Amanda Andradottir accounted for the first two goals of the match that came in the 20th and 51st minutes while Selma Sol Magnusdottir, Hlin Eiriksdottir and Alexandra Johannsdottir also scored for Iceland, which won the tournament with seven points.

Wales placed second with five points, Scotland was third with four points while the Philippines failed to produce a point after dropping all three matches.

Coach Alen Stajcic’s side took part in the tournament with a goal of honing itself against highly-ranked nations before the Fifa Women’s World Cup.

The campaign began last Feb. 15 with a narrow 1-0 loss to Wales after conceding the only goal through a penalty before halftime.

Scotland handed the Philippines a 2-1 setback in the following match, but the Filipinas took the result in stride after substitute Meryll Serrano scored before the final whistle.
