Justin Brownlee-led Gilas Pilipinas comeback falls short vs Jordan
Gilas Pilipinas’ spirited comeback led by Justin Brownlee fell short as it bowed to Jordan, 91-90, to wrap up its Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers campaign on Monday at Philippine Arena.
The Filipinos rallied from 25 points down with Brownlee, who is playing just his second game for the national team, leading the way with 41 big points. But they couldn’t make their shots in the final minute and a half that could’ve given the home team the victory. FULL STORY

Lebanon coach: Gilas Pilipinas played more as a team this time
Lebanon coach Jad El Hajj admitted that his team saw something in Gilas Pilipinas squad, this time led by new naturalized player Justin Brownlee, in their 107-96 loss in the Fiba World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers on Friday at Philippine Arena.
El Hajj observed how the Philippine team played unselfish basketball this time around, dishing out 31 assists in their game, led by Scottie Thompson’s six dimes as five Filipinos scored in double figures.
“Honestly, they played today as a team. They had more than 20 assists,” said the Lebanon coach. “The last time, they played more as individuals. Today, they shared the ball. They played more as a team. They deserve it.” FULL STORY
Jamie Malonzo feels right at home in front of appreciative Gilas crowd
Jamie Malonzo felt at home at Philippine Arena as he put on a show in front of the 19,829 fans in Gilas Pilipinas’ 107-96 win over Lebanon in the Fiba World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers on Friday.
Last January 15, Malonzo helped Barangay Ginebra win the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown by beating the Bay Area Dragons in Game 7, 114-99, before a record-breaking crowd of 54, 589 in Bocaue.

Another Jordan was big for Gilas Pilipinas on Friday night.
Filipino-Australian gunner Jordan Heading had 10 points in the Philippines’ 107-96 domination of Lebanon at the Philippine Arena here.
“We got that ball moving fast up and down, it was what we wanted when we started playing. It’s always fun to put up a lot of points on the board. It’s a little bit more exciting for the fans as well. BOCAUE — Playing splendidly on both ends all of Friday night, the Philippines clobbered Lebanon, 107-96, to win the first of its two home stands in Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers at Philippine Arena here.
Gilas Pilipinas used a pinpoint three-point shooting to set the tone early and then sustained its stingy play on defense the rest of the way to pull out a convincing win over an old tormentor enjoying a seven-game tear and also looking to end its campaign on a high note.
