MANILA, Philippines–Carlos Yulo missed the opportunity to secure a medal in the men’s floor exercise and rings event of the 2023 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Cottbus, Germany.
The Filipino gymnastics ace failed to make it to the finals of both events after finishing 20th in the floor exercise where Yulo was a former world champion and 13th in the rings.
But all is not lost for the 4-foot-11 dynamo as he sees action in the preliminary rounds of the parallel bars and vault this weekend.
Yulo posted 13.400 points in a field of 52 gymnasts during the eliminations of the floor topped by current Olympic champion Artem Dolgopyat of Israel (14.833).
He scored 13.833 in the rings, earning 8.133 in execution with a 5.700 degree of difficulty.
Three-time world champion Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece emerged on top at the qualifiers with 14.733 and Iran’s Mahdi Ahmad Kohani was second with 14.666.
