Kaya-Iloilo got some help from Stallion-Laguna on Sunday to extend its lead over Dynamic Herb Cebu in the Philippines Football League (PFL).
A 4-0 win over Mendiola FC 1991 in Imus, Cavite, enabled Kaya to atone for last weekend’s defeat to Cebu in front of home supporters in Iloilo City.
Cebu was held to a 1-1 draw by host Stallion-Laguna in Biñan, Laguna, in the other game as Kaya gained some points in the title race.
Kaya moved to 33 points, eight clear of the Gentle Giants, who have two matches at hand.
The Azkals Development Team (ADT) thrashed cellar-dwelling Maharlika-Manila, 2-1, at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
ADT stayed in third place with 18 points, two ahead of Stallion through two weeks of the league’s resumption.
Mendiola still has six points while Maharlika has won just once in 13 games for one point.
Daizo Horikoshi extended his lead in the goalscoring tally with his 10th, scoring the opener in the first half for Kaya. Jhan-Jhan Melliza, Arnel Amita and Dylan Nobiraki also found the mark after the break. INQ
