MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel failed to close out the finals series on the road and succumbed to a 61-81 defeat in the hands of Indonesia Saturday in the 3rd Asean Basketball League at Mahaka Square in Jakarta.
The Beermen, losing 1-0 edge in the best-of-three finals but have the chance to finish it at home next Saturday, allowed the Warriors to take over and pounce on their lackadaisical start.
By the fourth quarter, San Miguel was staring at a whopping 21-point deficit, Indonesia’s biggest lead of the game.
Stanley Pringle was, once again, the sparkplug for the Warriors by scoring 10 points in just the first quarter alone but it was Evan Brock who carried most of the load with 26 points.
Duke Crews, on the hand, had 16 points for the Beermen in a losing cause and didn’t draw enough support from the likes of Leo Avendio, Nick Fazekas and Froilan Baguion.
Game three is on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, where San Miguel clinched a taut 86-83 victory in game one last week.
