OKINAWA —San Miguel Beer absorbed a 142-87 whipping on Saturday at the hands of Anyang KGC on Saturday at Okinawa Arena here as the Filipinos ended their East Asia Super League Champions Week without a single victory.

The Beermen, playing without star June Mar Fajardo, put up resistance early on against the Korean club, but that defiance evaporated in just a matter of minutes.

Omari Spellman was at the cutting edge of the enemy’s attack, putting up 53 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. He was joined by Filipino import Rhenz Abando, who chipped in 22 points, five rebounds and two assists in an embarrassing rout of the PBA Philippine Cup champions.

The pair figured prominently in an 18-point run in the opening frame that had San Miguel scrambling early into the contest.

Import Cameron Clark had 35 points, while CJ Perez added 26 more to breathe some life into San Miguel’s fight. But without Fajardo, who was ruled out because of a left knee injury, the vaunted PBA club hardly stood a chance.

Byeon Jun-hyeong had 18 points, while Bae Byung-jun added 14 to help the Korean Basketball League’s No. 2 team to a 2-0 record while snuffing out the Beermen’s chances for a podium finish.

Both the PBA representatives finished with 0-2 records.

TNT was the first to bow out of contention after losing to Seoul SK Knights, 80-69, last Friday.

Aside from Fajardo, skipper Chris Ross also did not suit up for the Beermen. He left the venue walking gingerly.
