MANILA, Philippines—Mark Magsayo believes he got the better of Brandon Figueroa in their featherweight clash on Sunday (Manila time) at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, USA.
Magsayo lost by unanimous decision, 117-109, 117-109, and 118-108, in a fight that seemed closer than what the scores indicated.
“That’s boxing! I did my best to give the fans a great night of boxing and I believe WE WON the fight,” Magsayo posted on social media.

The 27-year-old Magsayo showed flashes of brilliance throughout the 12-rounder but just couldn’t sustain his form until the final bell.
Figueroa, meanwhile, kept pressing forward and wore down Magsayo to win the WBC interim belt.
Magsayo suffered his second straight setback. He dropped a split decision loss to Rey Vargas last July where he lost the WBC title.
