TALK ‘N Text’s Jason Castro has shaken off the injury that forced him out of the first four games of the PBA Governors Cup.
More than just getting back in shape, Castro reassumed his take-charge role to power the Tropang Texters to back-to-back wins that strengthened their bid in the race to the semifinals.
Castro, named Accel-PBA Player of the Week, came off the bench to average 20.5 points and 3.5 assists in those crucial wins after recovering from an ankle surgery he sustained in the last Commissioner’s Cup.
“He’s playing without the pain that hampered him in the last three conferences and it shows,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Chot Reyes.
The gutsy guard knocked in a team-high 23 points built on an 8-of-13 shooting clip to carry the Tropang Texters past Barako Bull, 109-89, last Wednesday.
Four days later, Castro again starred for the Texters by unloading nine of his 18 points in the final period, including the marginal basket, in their 113-111 escape against Barangay Ginebra two nights ago. Jasmine W. Payo
