ALLAN Mangahas knocked in 26 points as Blackwater Sports downed a scrappy Seoul Selection, 86-79, Sunday night to complete a five-game sweep of the 2012 Enjoy Jakarta Anniversary basketball tournament in Jakarta.
Sustaining his tournament-long brilliance, Mangahas bagged the Most Valuable Player plum in the invitational pitting six Asian teams.
“We played a very disciplined game,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac. “If you play against a team with good outside shooting, you have to be patient and disciplined.”
Robby Celiz and Neil Pascual also came out strong early as Blackwater cruised to a 42-27 halftime advantage over the Koreans.
Mangahas, the former Mapua standout who also dished out four assists, duplicated his 26-point outing in Blackwater’s 74-68 victory over Indonesia.
Celiz made up for his sub-par performance in the last two games by drilling 20 points, while Pascual posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Ken Acibar and Paul Zamar stepped up as well with a combined 18 points.
The Blackwater squad, owned by Dioceldo Sy and managed by Silliman Sy and Johnson Martines, also stunned defending champion Bangkok, 85-69, in the six-day tournament. Jasmine W. Payo
