DAVAO CITY—Tri SND Barracuda compiled a 45:16:43 finish to rule Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao’s Tribu Maisugon at Azuela Cove on Sunday.

Composed of mostly racers from Lanao, the fancied crew beat out four more squads to rule the team competition and bag a P550,000 cash prize and bespoke trophies made by Mindanaoan artist Kublai Millan.

Kenneth Bonda turned in the quickest finish at 3:59:09. Crowd darling and Palawan IM 70.3 winner John Alcala was just five ticks behind his teammate.

Bonda finished first in the men’s 18-22, while Alcala was 5th in the men’s 30-34.

Jailani Lamama clocked four 4:01:21 to best teammates Abdul Rahman Toroganan and Mohammad Hanin Maruhom and win the men’s 25-29 while figuring as the third-best contributor for the pre-race favorites.

Tri SND Barracuda is mentored by national Ani de Leon, who said that his charges’ selflessness put the squad a cut above the rest.

Other Filipinos turning in a commendable performance in the endurance contest Reagan Nabua (2nd place, M35-39), Edward Luna, (3rd, M50-54), Edgardo Villar, (2nd M70-74).

Over at the distaff side, Leilani Tan was the fastest of 50-54 while Gem Padilla Thomas of 55-59.

Jacquelyn Ann Cruz Khimberly Paquibot finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the female 25-29. Rhia Stawicki and Leyann Ramo also 2nd and 3rd in the 30-34.

Also finishing second are Kona racer Ines Santiago (40-44), Amanda Carpo (45-49), and Geraldin Abuan (55-59. Melissa Felicitas Racela finished third (50-54),

Meanwhile, Alveo Ali Tri ruled the female relay, Go4Less the male relay, and Tri SND the mixed division.
