MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine Azkals were handed a 4-0 beating by Jordan in a friendly match as their West Asia training camp came to an end on Wednesday (Manila time) in Doha, Qatar.
Veteran goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and the Azkals backline were mostly on the defensive as Jordan scored twice each half of the match held at Al Wakrah Sports Complex.
Barae Jrondi’s tenure as new Azkals coach began with back-to-back defeats, including last week’s meeting with Kuwait (2-0) in the latter’s home turf.
Musa Al-Taamari produced a brace for Jordan with an opening goal from the spot nine minutes after kickoff and a shot past Etheridge into the far post in the 26th.
Yazan Al-Naimat and Ibrahim Sadeh were the other goalscorers for Jordan during the 56th and 58th.
Jrondi made some slight changes in the starting lineup, putting Lloyd Ignacio, naturalized striker Bienvenido Maranon, Jarvey Gayoso and Christian Rontini.
Etheridge, Carli de Murga, Amani Aguinaldo, Jesse Curran, Patrick Strauss, Mark Hartmann and Santi Rublico retained their starting roles from the previous friendly in Kuwait City.
