Hechanova surprise leader
Super tough pin placements bedeviled the NGAP-Globe Business Philippine Senior Am field yesterday with the 10-over 78 of Jose Mari Hechanova proving enough to set the pace after the opening round at Camp Aguinaldo.
Hechanova had two double bogeys and six bogeys in a birdie-less round for a one-stroke lead over Canlubang teammates Bing Bunye and Tony Olives and two over Luisita mainstays Lino Magpantay and Rudy Amata, who both carded 80s in the event also backed by Pancake House, Titleist and Golf Depot.
Former champions Rolly Viray, Francis Gaston and Dave Hernandez were also not spared, with Viray, the 2005 winner as a rookie, floundering with an 83 and Gaston and Hernandez shooting an 85 and 86, respectively.
