Wield the cue stick, hit magic shots, and spread the word of God.
This is the noble mission of pool champions Mike Massey, Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman and Steve “The Pastor of Pool” Lillis who are touring the Philippines as part of their worldwide Gospel Trick Shot Show.
Massey, reputedly the greatest artistic pool trick shot artist of all time; Rossman, hailed as the father of modern artistic pool; and Lillis, president and founder of Gospel Trick Shot Ministries, Inc., are in Cebu to show their improbable acts atop the felt table.
They performed at the Atrium in JCentre Mall in Mandaue City from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. yesterday and will continue their show today and tomorrow.
Still blessed with steady hands at 65, Massey has won 23 major titles worldwide and is enshrined in the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame with the likes of Efren “Bata” Reyes and Django Bustamante.
The 62-year-old Rossman has conducted over 40 shows in more than 30 countries while Lillis, former chairman of the WPA Artistic Pool Division, is a missionary, professor, author and conference speaker.
Through the “Rack Up A Victory” tour, which also made stops in Manila and Bacolod, the close friends are sharing what they have learned in life, both on and off the pool table, in trying to motivate Filipinos to become true believers.
The Gospel Trick Shot Show, being presented by J Centre Mall in association with Puyat Sports headed by Aristeo “Putch” Puyat, started in the country on June 11 and will run up to July 3.
