Three-match sked kicks off LBC volleyballV

MANILA, Philippines—Men’s volleball takes the spotlight Saturday as the first LBC Men’s Volleyball League unfolds with University of the East and San Beda clashing in the main game at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym in Quezon City. Angeles University Foundation battles Mayamot High School in the lone juniors’ match after 9 a.m. opening rites, before Perpetual Help-Laguna collides with AUF at 11 a.m.  The UE-San Beda game starts at 1:30 p.m.

LBC Hari ng Padala chief managing officer Javier Mantecon and Freddie Infante of organizing Metro Sports will grace the opening ceremony of the league backed by Shakey’s, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics. “LBC wants to help revive men’s volleyball through a league where the country’s top and upcoming players can hone their skills,” said Mantecon. Other competing schools are University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo, Arellano, St. Benilde, Far Eastern, University of the Philippines, National U, San Sebastian, San Agustin, Claret, Xavier and Sta. Elena.
