MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas will banner Group A seeing action at Smart Araneta Coliseum while Team USA was automatically selected in Group C to play at Mall of Asia Arena ahead of the Fiba World Cup 2023 Draw on Saturday next week.
Fiba on Friday unveiled the seedings of the 32 teams before the draw, which will distribute the nations in eight groups. The Philippines was slated in Pot 1 along with USA, Spain, and Australia.

Seed 1 – Philippines, Spain, USA, Australia
Seed 2 – France, Serbia, Slovenia, Lithuania
Seed 3 – Greece, Italy, Germany, Brazil
Seed 4 – Canada, Venezuela, Montenegro, Puerto Rico
Seed 5 – Iran, Dominican Republic, Finland, New Zealand
Seed 6 – China, Latvia, Mexico, Georgia
Seed 7 – Jordan, Japan, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire
Seed 8 – Lebanon, Egypt, South Sudan, Cape Verde
The draw will determine the composition of the groups which will play in several cities in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
As the host nation, the Philippine men’s national team has been placed in Group A, whose games will be held at the Big Dome as well as the squads from Group B.
Team USA was selected by the host Philippines to play in Pool C, whose matches will be held at MOA Arena along with Group D.
The draw is set at Araneta Coliseum next week with Fiba World Cup 2023 Global Ambassador and Argentina’s basketball icon Luis Scola attending the ceremonies.
Slovenia, which will play in Group F in Okinawa, Japan, is in Pot 2 with France, Serbia, and Lithuania, while Pot 3 has Greece, Italy, Germany, and Brazil.
Canada, which was selected by Indonesia in Group H at Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, landed in Pot 4 with Venezuela, Montenegro, and Puerto Rico.
Iran, the Dominican Republic, Finland, and New Zealand are in Pot 5 while Pot 6 features China, Latvia, Mexico, and Georgia.
Host country Japan, which is slated in Group E to be held at Okinawa Arena, landed in Pot 7 with Jordan, Japan, Angola, and Ivory Coast. Pot 8 is bannered by Lebanon, Egypt, South Sudan, and Cape Verde.
Teams from Pots 1, 3, 5, and 7 will be drawn to Groups A, C, E, and G, while countries from Pots 2, 4, 6, and 8 will be slated to Groups B, D, F, and H.

As part of the draw principles, each group should be composed of one Asian, one American, one African, and one or two European teams.
The first two rounds of the World Cup group stage–which will pit are set from August 25 to September 4 in Manila, Okinawa, and Jakarta.
The Final phase is set at Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan from September 5 to 10.
