MANILA, Philippines—Adamson setter Louie Romero will take her time before deciding if she will come back next UAAP season or turn professional.

Adamson’s first Final Four appearance since Season 76 only lasted for one game as it fell to the twice-to-beat National University, 25-22, 22-25, 12-25, 15-25, on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The third-year playmaker, who had 14 excellent sets and fired three service aces, remained happy with a bronze medal as they redeemed themselves after a heartbreaking season last year losing to Ateneo in the playoff for the No. 4 spot.

“Sobrang happy kasi nung una target lang talaga namin is Final Four then ayon, naka podium finish pa kaya sobrang saya kasi especially saming mga graduating, tatlo kaming graduating,” said Romero.

(We’re happy because our first target is just to make it to the Final Four and then we made it to the podium. We’re really happy, especially, for us graduating students.)

Romero is still eligible to come back next year having only played three seasons including her rookie year in 2020 that was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.

But if the Kings’ Montessori school product decides to go, she won’t have any regrets despite failing to sustain their momentum in the first set as the Lady Bulldogs dominated them in the last three frames to forge a Finals rematch with La Salle.

“Everything starts in receiving. I told them that if we have a good service receive, we have a chance. Because we can get a set but we were rattled so our plays were out of the system,” said Romero in Filipino. “But I don’t have any regrets because it already happened. I can’t do anything. I already told the team what to do but we lacked the execution.”

Romero, the front runner in the Best Setter race, says the best is yet to come for the young Lady Falcons, who just played their first season under coach Jerry Yee.

“On our team, there is no seniority but the respect is always there. We know that the next batch will keep the solid bond that we formed,” said Romero, whose first two full seasons with the Lady Falcons shaped her to become one of the reliable leaders on the team.
