SEA Games 2023: Sibol wins silver in MLBB women’s esports event
MANILA, Philippines—Sibol Pilipinas settled for silver in the inaugural Mobile Legends: Bang Bang women’s tournament in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at Nagaworld 2, Cambodia on Thursday.
The Philippines held an advantageous 2-1 lead against the undefeated Indonesian team before dropping two straight games to finish at second place, 3-2.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the rubber game, Indonesia needed only 15:34 minutes to end the game with a 13-5 kill tally over Sibol.
Gwyneth Diagon, Kaye Maerylle Alpuerto, Mery Christine Vivero, Rica Fatima Amores, Sheen Perez and Alexandria Delas Alas Dardo willed the Philippines to its first medal finish in the esports category of the SEA Games.
In the CrossFire-Mixed Team category, the Philippines settled for bronze after succumbing to eventual gold medalist Vietnam.
Article continues after this advertisementThe team of Aldrin Paul Borabon, Christian Amores, John Kenneth Alde, Justine Reige Perez, Matthew Arnaez and Arthur Gabrielle Tecson bowed out of the gold medal match after succumbing to a 1-2 loss at the hands of the Vietnamese.
The Valorant-Mixed Team event, the Philippines also notched a podium finish after defeating Vietnam in the bronze medal ranking match.
PH notched a 2-0 sweep of Vietnam with the efforts of Brheyanne Christ Reyes, George Audrey Lachica, Jose Eduardo Jamir, Mark Anthony Tiling, Nathaniel Cabero and Xavier Juan.
Sibol’s lone gold so far is from the League of Legends: Wild Rift team.
