PHNOM PENH—Lovely Inan clinched a silver medal in women’s weightlifting on Saturday at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.
The 18-year-old national champion from Angono, Rizal compiled a total lift of 178 kilograms built on the strength of her production in the snatch (78kg) and the clean and jerk (100kg) to place second behind Thailand’s Sanikun Tanasan in the 49kg category.
Tanasan carried an accumulated weight of 191kgs—86 in the snatch and 105 in the clean and jerk—to rule the event. Indonesia’s Luluk Wijayana lifted 173kgs for the bronze.
It was the second silver medal for Team Philippines in weightlifting after Angeline Colonia also got a silver in the women’s 45kg.
