MANILA, Philippines–Converge is in search of someone to represent the team in the PBA Board of Governors following the resignation of Chito Salud earlier this week.
The FiberXers said the former PBA commissioner stepped down as alternate governor last Tuesday, a week after the league thumbed down the move to make Pampanga governor Dennis Pineda as its representative.
“As relayed to the PBA Board of Governors, [Salud] has stepped down as alternate governor and will no longer be connected to the basketball team effective immediately,” Converge said in a statement.
Salud, however, will remain with the company under a different role by heading the development of the Comclark Tech City project in Pampanga, it added.
Salud previously served as both team manager and governor upon the FiberXers’ entry to the big league.
But Salud slid down to the role of alternate governor after appointing Pineda, who has close ties with FiberXers team owner Dennis Anthony Uy.
Uy had sought for the league to reconsider its decision to bar Pineda’s inclusion to the board due to the league’s desire to stay “apolitical.”
