MANILA, Philippines—After missing what turned out to be National University’s final game of UAAP Season 85, Sheena Toring lauded her teammates for putting up a gallant stand against La Salle in Game 2 of the women’s volleyball finals.

Toring was proud and grateful after her teammates picked up the slack in her absence due to a partial ACL tear in her left knee.

“Well done team. Just a week ago we still made history for making it to the Finals for two consecutive seasons. I’m still proud and grateful for having another incredible season,” wrote Toring on Instagram on Sunday.

“Let’s be hungrier and better for next season.”

La Salle dethroned NU, 19-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, 15-10, exactly a week ago.

Toring was ruled out for the remainder of the finals after landing on the foot of Lady Spikers’ Thea Gagate following a block attempt in Game 1.

Though there’s no timetable yet for Toring’s return, the middle blocker is expected to be back next season.

NU, however, won’t have key cogs Jennifer Nierva and Princess Robles back in Season 86 due to graduation.
