Bryan Bagunas puts jersey up for auction to help former NU teammates

MANILA, Philippines—Bryan Bagunas may be playing overseas but he certainly doesn’t forget his roots.

Bagunas, a product of National University, put his Oita Miyoshi jersey up for auction with all proceeds going to his former NU Bulldogs teammates Joshua Retamar and Kim Dayadante.

Retamar and Dayadante are in need of financial assistance for their ailing family member.

“We humbly seek for your kindness as I plan to auction one of my official Japan game jerseys to support my former teammates, Retamar and Dayandante. Retamar’s grandfather is currently in the hospital battling various types of illnesses, while Dayandante’s sister is courageously fighting Stage 3 cancer,” wrote Bagunas, the 2019 Southeast Asian Games silver medalist.

“We earnestly hope for your goodwill in considering this auction. Thank you very much for your support.”

Bagunas played for Oita Miyoshi in the Japan V.League for three years from 2019 to 2022 before he decided to take his act to Taiwan.

He continued to flourish in the Taiwan Top League where he led his club Win Streak to the championship. He also became the first Filipino volleyball to win an MVP award overseas.

As of posting, the highest bidder for Bagunas’ jersey is at P35,000.
