MANILA, Philippines—Raul Soyud is starting to make his presence felt for Phoenix and coach Jamike Jarin after an injury-hit campaign last conference.
Soyud gave the Fuel Masters something to look forward to in the upcoming season after two games in the PBA On Tour preseason.
“Unfortunately, he was injured in the last conference, that’s why this would help him get his confidence and rhythm back. He’s getting there,” said Jarin after Phoenix’s 100-93 win over Meralco at Ynares Sports Center, Pasig, on Sunday.
“Hopefully, he’s going to be injury-free so he can make some noise in the real conference.”
The big-bodied bruiser finished with a monster double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds. He had a near-perfect offensive outing after making 11 of his 12 tries from the field.
Soyud followed up his big game against San Miguel a few days ago, where he finished with 10 points and 10 markers in a 106-101 upset win over the Philippine Cup champions.
The 32-year-old center was acquired by Phoenix via three-team trade involving TNT and NLEX.
