Jackson slowly finding UE groove

It was just another day at the office for University of the East (UE) import Delveion Jackson, whose efforts helped the Warriors forge a 67-59 victory over Centro Escolar University (CEU) in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup in San Juan City on Sunday.

Jackson dominated the Scorpions, finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds.

“For him I think the double-double is normal,” Warriors coach Jack Santiago said of his 24-year-old ward.

Despite most of the Warriors squad coming from sickness, UE managed to pull away in the payoff frame leading by as many as 13 points courtesy of a resounding Jackson dunk, 63-50.

“Right now we are still in the process of improving because we have a new player, an import,” Santiago said after his team’s third win in the tournament.

Playing away from home, Jackson is adjusting to the physicality of basketball in the country while building chemistry with his teammates during practice.

“In practice, they are holding me accountable … Also understanding my teammates, playing off each other. That chemistry that gives the consistency … the more practice we got together for me really helped me adjust,” Jackson said. INQ
