MANILA, Philippines—Joining the Premier Volleyball League’s off-season recruiting frenzy, PLDT made a huge splash with the acquisition of veteran player Royse Tubino.
The High Speed Hitters officially unveiled Tubino as their newest member via Instagram on Tuesday morning.
“More fire, more power. Just what we needed,” wrote the team.
PLDT will enjoy Tubino’s services after a hard-fought PVL All-Filipino run last conference where it forced eventual finalist Petro Gazz to three games in the semis before bowing out of title contention.
The High Speed Hitters will rely on the veteran outside hitter after they finished the last leg of the PVL with a 6-2 win-loss record.

Tubino, meanwhile, looks to have her winning mojo back after being the silver lining for Army-Black Mamba during a winless conference run at 0-8.
Army is forced to skip the Invitational Conference due to the lack of players.
PLDT’s signing was a necessity to keep its player pool in check after letting go of University of Santo Tomas product Ysa Jimenez and Wendy Semana.
“It was an honor to have a Philippine Volleyball legend like you to play for PLDT,” the team wrote about Semana.
