MANILA, Philippines – A P500,000 fine and a one-conference ban from the PBA is the price Don Allado has to pay for his error in judgement.

The PBA office handed down the sanctions, a day after Allado caused a stir on Twitter by accusing the country’s only play-for-pay league of “game fixing”.  The tweets were made after Allado’s team, Barako Bull, lost to Powerade and the chance to play in the semi-finals of the PBA Governor’s Cup.

“There’s no game fixing in the PBA, and there never was,” said Allado Thursday morning, hours after he apologized to Commissioner Chito Salud.

Of the total fine, P300,000 will go the PBA Players’ Trust Fund while the rest of the money will be donated to a charitable institution of Allado’s choice.

Allado, who joined the league in 1999, will also skip a conference next season of the PBA, including all PBA related activities.

All the sanctions are final and unappealable, according to the PBA commissioner’s office.
