MANILA, Philippines — The House committee on sports development has its eyes on Barako Bull player Don Allado’s controversial allegation of game fixing in the Philippine Basketball Association.

The committee vice-chairman, Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Representative Mark Sambar, on Thursday said that the basketball association should conduct a thorough investigation on Allado’s allegation.

“It is too early to call for a congressional inquiry but this should be anticipated,” warned the lawmaker should the committee be dissatisfied with the PBA’s own investigation.

“The public expects nothing less than a transparent and fair investigation into the issues raised by Mr. Allado,” Sambar said.

But while in support of the PBA inquiry, the lawmaker had mixed feelings about the disciplinary action on Allado who has been slapped with a P500,000 fine and banned from one conference for his controversial tweets hitting the PBA’s alleged game fixing.

He said that such actions would suppress information behind Allado’s allegation, something which many basketball fans sought at this time.
