MANILA, Philippines—The Quezon City Gerflor Defenders, the Premier Volleyball League’s newest team, unveiled four of its players for the upcoming Invitational Conference.
The Defenders welcomed Lyceum product and former Chery Tiggo player Pia Sarmiento as one of the squad’s liberos.
The team also added 24-year-old Julia Angeles, who played for Balipure and Chef’s Classic prior to her upcoming stint with the Defenders.
Quezon City also introduced two players on Monday, namely Fenela Emnas and Sarah Verutiao.
Emnas, who played for Adamson in the UAAP, was revealed to be one of the squad’s setters. She also played for the Black Mamba-Army Troopers.
Verutiao, meanwhile, made a name for herself during her stint with Arellano in the NCAA.
Gerflor is one of the three new teams in the PVL, along with Farm Fresh Foxies and Foton Tornadoes.
Meanwhile, Akari also made moves of its own on Monday, acquiring former Black Mamba-Army middle blocker Luth Malaluan.
Invitational Conference action rolls on later this month, June 29.
