PH drubs Malaysia in Seaba, to face Thailand for title

MANILA, Philippines – It was just another day at the office for the Philippines with an 85-50 drubbing of Malaysia Friday in the penultimate game day of the 2012 Seaba Championship in Thailand.

The Philippines rolled to its third straight victory sans a loss in the annual tournament, and a victory on Saturday over host Thailand will clinch the title.

Being disputed among the Southeast Asian countries is a lone berth to the FIBA Asia Cup, also this year.

Garvo Lanete, San Beda’s former star, continued to shine offensively for the Seaba squad – featuring players from the pros and the amateurs – with a team-best 14 points.

But each player from the squad, though, chipped in the scoring with naturalized center Marcus Douthit asserting his dominant form with 11 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Alaska’s Mac Baracael added nine points, while the rest of the squad scored at least four points apiece.
