MANILA, Philippines — Premier Volleyball League-bound Imee Hernandez graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with flying colors.
The Golden Tigresses’ middle blocker bared that has gained her degree in Bachelor of Science Tourism Management, Major in Recreation and Leisure Management as a cum laude on top of being a student-athlete for the past four years.
“Nine of the most wonderful years I could ask for. To all my family, friends, classmates, professors, and everyone else along the way who supported this lady from Baliuag, I will always be grateful. We made it,” she wrote on Instagram.
The 22-year-old middle blocker decided to forgo her remaining playing years in the UAAP after she made a breakout performance in Season 85 including a career-high 24 points against Ateneo last April to lead UST to the Final Four before getting eliminated by the twice-to-beat and eventual champion La Salle.
Hernandez only played two full seasons in the UAAP as her supposed rookie year in 2020 was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 5-foot-10 student-athlete joined Eya Laure in turning pro and playing for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference.
Hernandez will make her debut for Chery Tiggo when they take on defending champion Creamline on June 27 at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Crossovers are slated in Pool A with Akari, PLDT, and the new team Gerflor.
