MANILA, Philippines — Chery Tiggo will field seasoned setter Angelica Legacion and Letran spiker Cha Cuñada in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference on June 27 at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Crossovers on Thursday revealed its roster for the midseason tournament, adding Legacion, who last played in the Philippine Superliga in 2020, and Cuñada playing with a Special Guest License.
After transferring seven players to its sister team Foton, Legacion will join the setter rotation of coach Aaron Velez and will be bringing her championship experience from Petron in the PSL, where she also won a Best Setter award.
The Arellano University standout, who was supposed to play in the PVL in 2021 but the UAC Power Hitters didn’t push their intentions to join the league, will finally make her pro debut, teaming up with playmakers Alina Bicar and Joyme Cagande.
Cuñada will add depth to the Crossovers’ offense as she brings her all-around game to the pros after winning the NCAA All-Star Most Valuable Player and leading Letran to earn the Beach Volley tournament crown on top of another MVP award.
Former players Shaya Adorador, Jasmine Nabor, Seth Rodriguez, France Ronquillo, May Luna, Jaila Atienza, and Bingle Landicho transferred to sister team Foton.
Chery Tiggo will parade prized rookies Eya Laure, Imee Hernandez, Jennifer Nierva, Cess Robles, and Cagande along with team captain Mylene Paat in its bid to win its first title since the 2021 PVL bubble in Ilocos Norte.
The Crossovers will start their campaign against the defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers on opening day.
Chery Tiggo is slated in Pool A, which also has Akari, PLDT, and new team Gerflor.
