MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University will be without coach Tina Salak, who has stepped down from her post just after a season.

In a shock announcement by FEU on Friday, the Lady Tamaraws confirmed that the first year coach is resigning as she is due to migrate to the United States.

“Coach Tina Salak is stepping down from her position. She will soon migrate to the USA as her immigrant visa application recently got approved,” the post read.

The school thanked Salak for her services to the Lady Tamaraws. She will still be on board as a consultant “while she plans her move to the US.”

In her lone year with the Lady Tamaraws, Salak steered the squad to a 6-8 record.

As of writing, FEU will have an interim coach in the form of Manolo Refugia.

“Coach Manolo Refugia will serve as the interim head coach of the team in the V-League Collegiate Challenge,” the school said.

“Let’s all wish the best for Coach Tina as she moves on to this new phase of her life.”

Salak’s departure as head coach is not a new trend for the UAAP schools with coach Jerry Yee recently stepping down as Adamson mentor.
